A DC-10 air tanker drops retardant behind houses threatened by the Miguelito Fire in Lompac, Santa Barbara County, CA, on May 13, 2014, as one of the more than 49 engines that responded to the incident works on a structure-protection assignment. About 1,200 residents were evacuated from their homes. The fire burned more than 600 acres before it was contained by more than 550 firefighters.
Dedication: This month’s Firehouse® is dedicated to Firefighter Jerry Campbell, 61, of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Nashville, TN; Firefighter/EMT Kevin J. Bristol, 48, of the Peekskill, NY, Fire Department; Fire Chief Jamie A. Peite, 43, of the Ironwood Township, MI, Volunteer Fire Department; Senior Captain Jeffrey Bayless, 51, of the Anchorage, AK, Fire Department; and Lieutenant Bobby Mollere, 61, of the Hellsgate Fire Department in Star Valley, AZ, who died in the line of duty, March 2014.
