The NYPD tightened security at the French consulate and French mission in response to the Paris attacks, and cops were on “high alert,” Mayor de Blasio said Friday.
“There are no specific threats directed at New York City that we know of at this time, but we are monitoring very, very closely the situation with our federal partners and obviously with the folks we have in Paris,” the mayor said during a live appearance on ABC-7 to discuss the violence in France.
Paris was rocked by a bloody and multi-pronged attack Friday night that targeted crowded restaurants and bars as well as a concert hall and a soccer stadium.
More than 120 were dead on the streets as midnight arrived in Paris — with officials still trying to finalize the body count.
Police stormed the Bataclan hall where hundreds were held hostage for more than an hour.
The NYPD said in a statement its intelligence bureau in France was already working with Parisian officials while keeping Commissioner Bill Bratton updated on the developing situation.
“The NYPD is in close touch with our French police counterparts as well as our FBI partners here,” the statement said.
Out of “an abundance of caution,” the counterterrorism bureau sent terrorism response teams to crowded areas in the five boroughs, the NYPD said.
“Specific deployments at French government locations in New York City were made immediately after the attacks,” the statement concluded.
In Union Square Park late Friday a small vigil drew people who lighted candles and wrote chalk messages in French and English including “Pray for Paris,” “Viva La France” and ”Why the Hate?”

Lets hope that NYPD,doesn"t shoot some one by accident.NYPd is not known for it"s shooting skills and tend to be trigger happy.
Seriously you think they are interested in attacking the French consulate? The attack on Paris, the heart of France is what really matters. If the French could not protect Paris no one can blame us if the French consulate or mission to the U.N. is attacked. As long as there is the Schengen visa free zones there will be loopholes that allow for terrorism. From the moment the three Americans tourists on the Belgium-Paris bound train wrestled a gunman to the ground France should have been on high alert and increased their intelligence sources. This time there were no Americans with bare hands to save the French Viva la France!
