Toronto Police are investigating a vulgar insult hurled at CBC journalist Charlsie Agro while she was on air covering the Pan Am Games closing ceremonies.
Agro was speaking live on-air on Sunday night about how she was impressed with the performances of Canadian female athletes when the phrase “F--- her right in the p----” was shouted out twice.
She said she isn’t sure if it was the same man who called out the phrase both times on Front Street, outside the CBC headquarters.
By the time her live report was completed, a man was running away from her down the street, she said.
Another man and woman, who appeared to be with him, were still nearby and Agro said she caught them on video.
She said she approached nearby police officers and told them of the incident.
They agreed on which photos should be tweeted out, she said.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday, Agro tweeted: “There we go. Please RT. Reviewing footage with @TorontoPolice @TPSTauro needs your help. #stopFHRITP.”
“CBC has given me all the support I need to move on in whatever way we chose,” she said.
The incident follows a high-profile incident involving CityNews reporter Shauna Hunt, who brought mass public attention to a trend of heckling female reporters by shouting “F--- her right in the p----.”
Hunt confronted a group of men waiting to heckle her live on air.
A Toronto man was fired for his role in the Hunt incident. He has since apologized to her.
