EMS patients and their families expect transport to the hospital of their choice. A Fla. woman is upset that she was taken, against her wishes, to a different hospital a half-mile closer when she had abdominal pain. Another Fla. woman pleaded with EMTs to fly her husband to a stroke center instead of taking him to the nearest hospital. Both cases are an important reminder about meeting public expectationsof EMS and documenting transport decisions.
