Poland's Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak
Poland would like to buy long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles and asked the United States for their availability, Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said Thursday.

Poland seeks to purchase cruise missiles from the United States or another country, Siemoniak added.

"We are preparing for a submarine tender and one of the abilities we want the submarines to have is to carry cruise missiles. We are speaking to all those able to deliver this kind of weapon, including the Americans", Siemoniak said.

He added that the purchase of cruise missiles was a long-term project as Poland needs to equip its submarines with this advanced weapon by 2030.

Siemoniak also said that some 5,000 troops will take part in US-led exercise of NATO's new spearhead quick-reaction force, which will be held in June in Poland. Americans will join soldiers from Poland, The Netherlands, Germany Norway and the Czech Republic.
