Dear EMS1 Subscriber,
Today I watched paramedics in central Wisconsin learn the 'Rescue Task Force' technique for finding, triaging and extricating patients from an active-shooter incident. For most, the concept of medics entering the warm zone with police is new and requires shared understanding and joint training.
Current events, like firefighters being held hostage in their own Pa. station and an active-shooter training video from Texas, remind us of the importance of ongoing training, constant situational awareness, and the evolving role of EMS providers.
