Buchanan continued to heap praise on Vladimir Putin in his latest syndicated column published this week.
Just as he did late last year, Buchanan gushed over Putin for "standing against a decadent West."
What gave Buchanan a thrill up his leg this time was Putin's defense of the annexation of Crimea, wherein the autocrat declared Russia to be a Christian nation.

"Heard any Western leader, say, Barack Obama, talk like that lately?" Buchanan wrote.
In a column published in December, Buchanan wondered if he had a fellow culture warrior in Putin.
The nativist commentator and former Republican presidential candidate seems to have gotten his answer.

"In the new war of beliefs, Putin is saying, it is Russia that is on God's side," Buchanan wrote. "The West is Gomorrah."

According to Buchanan, Putin is "tapping into the worldwide revulsion of and resistance to the sewage of a hedonistic secular and social revolution coming out of the West."

Buchanan lamented the "West's capitulation to a sexual revolution of easy divorce, rampant promiscuity, pornography, homosexuality, feminism, abortion, same-sex marriage, euthanasia, assisted suicide - the displacement of Christian values by Hollywood values."

And he even encouraged Putin to wage a war with the West "not with rockets," but instead "a cultural, social, moral war."

What really impresses Buchanan is Russia's ban on so-called "gay propaganda." The measure, signed into law last year, has caused a number of American social conservatives to fawn over Putin. But no one has a case of Putin lust quite like Buchanan.

"In the new ideological Cold War, whose side is God on now?" Buchanan wrote in closing.
It sounds like he already knows the answer.
