The perfect place for lunch/ dinner before a Broadway show. Located in the heart of the theatre district, it's the perfect location. The history of this restaurant is amazing and the sketches of all the Broadway stars on the walls still astound me.
We went the other night for dinner prior to seeing Trip To Bountiful. The food is good and was very tasty. We shared the Sardi appetizer which consisted of liver pate, smoked salmon wrapped around asparagus, Prosciutto wrapped around cantaloupe to name a few. For dinner, we both ordered the grilled salmon with an orange sauce, sweet potato's flavored with spices and sautéed spinach in olive oil and garlic.
We shared a dessert and off we went to our play.
The service at Sardi's is always top notch...
We have many fond family memories of Sardi's and this evening just added to that list and we are looking forward to our next visit. -

When we are there, the soup of the day was Chicken Noodle Soup. This was not your run-of-the-mill soup. This Chicken Noodle Soup broth was so intense and flavorful. The chicken dish I had was one of there specials of the day. The food was outstanding! I will eat here again when I visit NYC. -

New York, NYWent to Sardi's before a 7:00 show and even though it's touristy, I'm glad we went as it's such an iconic restaurant. The food was good as was the service. They really know how to time your meal so you'll be out in time for your show. The only thing I didn't really like was they served my wine in a little old fashioned wine glass. -

Elmwood Park, ILMy favorite meal in NYC. Here's a little secret. Make your reservation for 8pm. You'll be dining between the pre and post-theater crowds. This place is just to iconic with all the celeb caricatures to check out. Our food and service were both outstanding. Prices were very reasonable for the high quality of the meal. Frozen cake dessert was the perfect end to a perfect meal.-

Manhattan, NYExcellent pre- or post-Broadway show meal. Great food, service and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable - particularly the prix-fix menu. We've eaten there several times and everything we've had is excellent. The desserts are all to die for! They are also great at getting you out to your show in time. -

San Francisco, CA3.5 stars - Came here before a play and found it through Yelp, since it seemed to be the best reviewed place near the theater. Onion soup was amazing, chop salad was good, but completely tossed. I much rather prefer the meat on top (anybody....) but it was very tasty. Service was on top of it! Dude was like a ninja on diet coke refills, I'd take bite, blink and all of a sudden my glass is full, impressive. I'll check a few more places out before I designate this my pre-show jam, but I'd definitely come back if I wanted a bite before experiencing art and shit. -

Moreno Valley, CAFirst of all I want to start off by saying this was my husband & I first time in New York, we had been to five other states before we arrived here, including Canada. We were going to see the Lion King this nite, so I looked on yelp for a nice place to eat, read the reviews and decided to go to (SARDIS ) , the food was OK the service was good, but when it came down to paying the bill there was a problem with our credit ( CARDS ) will someone PLEASE explain to me how is it our credit cards worked everywhere we went until we got there, not 1 but 2, so the young lady tried to say the restaurant had been there for 50 yrs, BULL SHIT, being that we were the only BLACK COUPLE IN THE PLACE SAYS IT ALL, STRAIGHT RACIST IS WHAT WAS GOING ON, EVEN AFTER THAT WE HAD NO OTHER PROBLEM WITH OUR CREDIT CARD, SO YOU TELL ME ( SARDIS ) I didn't see know one else running out to get CASH to pay for there meal, my advice to AFRICAN AMERICANS IS this place is RACIST, RACIST, RACIST ( EVEN BETTER THAN THAT ( JUST DON'T EAT HERE ) IT'S A SHAME, BUT IT HAPPENS JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW ( SARDIS ) I WILL NOT RECOMMEND YOUR RESTAURANT TO ANYONE...very sad -

You go to Sardi's for the history, not the food. It's probably the same as it's always been, but standards have changed. However its location right in the theatre district, and the drawings of ancient theatre stars that paper the walls are what it's all about. My wife loves the spinach cannelloni, but warns that the appetizer portion is plenty. -

Newton, MAExpanding on a theme from my check-in here, Sardi's is more about the experience, history and fame of the restaurant than the food. Seated under the famed gallery of celebrity drawings, there's a sense of history stretching from Lionel to Drew Barrymore. Once again I'm feeling the food is in a supporting role and the true performance is just in the visit; with the genial bartender who must have waited on thousands of celebs and celebrity gawkers - not to mention the occasional Beantown tourist who turned left in Kenmore Square and ended up Mid-town Manhattan. For us it was a WTF 4th of July in NYC just to do different things and a few of the same things in a different location. Sardi's was on the list quite early, and I must say we had a lovely evening there. My steak, ordered medium rare, came red in the middle (just right) and my wife's Cobb Salad with seafood did not last long, and the happy sounds coming from beside me clearly endorsed the salad. Our shared appetizer - the Sardi's Special - was a lovely antipasto of prosciutto and melon, olives, Italian meats and sauteed peppers. But I digress - it's really not about the food, it's about telling your friends you were there, across the street from the Majestic, where Tom Hanks name is bigger than BIG, and Phantom of the Opera made history. Come to Sardi's soon, breathe in the ambiance, because NY landmarks like this appear to have a limited lifespan and should be enjoyed before they are raized and made into an apartment building.
