  • Kent Cullom LAFD misspoke. The Los Angeles County FD doesn't cover all of LA County not in the city of LA. There are numerous FD's in LA County beside the LA City & County FD's and the Area A strike team, made up of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills & Culver City FD's were and still are on the Butte Fire in the Seirra foothills of Central CA.
    • Los Angeles FD Very true. In an attempt to keep it limited to the City vs County question, I did not address all the other FD and my choice of wording wasn't accurate. For someone not from this area nor familiar with how our agencies are aligned, it can be quite co...See More
  • Camille Svastics Thank you. I'm a civilian what is difference LAFD vs LA county are you all same brotherhood?? I mean as FF yes but are duties different?
    • Los Angeles FD We are two completely separate fire departments. LAFD is the response agency for the City of Los Angeles while LA County Fire covers all of LA County not within the City of LA. So while we are all FF with similar duties, we work for different departments. It's like IBM and Microsoft. Both computer tech companies but are they the same? smile emoticon ^MS

As of 1 January, 2011 all new construction of one and two story single family dwellings and townhouses require residential fire sprinklers. Previously, they were only required in commercial and multi-family dwellings (apartments).
A great move towards reducing fire fatalities. Take a look and watch our colleagues at Las Vegas Fire & Rescue show you why! ^MS
