Have you left your hairdryer plugged in? A family home was destroyed when a hairdryer had been left on when the electricity cut out. The hairdryer then came back to life once the electricity meter had been recharged. Share with anyone who might do this. http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_22Au…

Here are two examples of the 557 animal rescues we went to last year.We always be there in an emergency but not all animal rescues need our help. If an animal is injured or in distress please call the RSPCA's 24 hour helpline on 0300 1234 999 first. They'll call us if we're neededhttp://www.london-fire.gov.uk/…/LatestNewsReleases_call-the…

How at risk from fire is your borough? Is your landlord providing you with the right protection? From October all private landlords must fit smoke alarms and install carbon monoxide alarms in rooms with solid fuel burners or face being slapped with a £5,000 fine. To help them protect tenants the Government has given fire and rescue services, including us, a limited number of free alarms to give away to landlords. Let your's know about the offer. We'll be taking to the streets of London on Saturday, 12 September to raise awareness of the fantastic charity Children of Fire who support African young people who have been severely burnt. Like Perlucia, who lost all of her hair and sustained serious injuries to her face and hands. Sign up to join the walk or give what you can. http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/…/LatestNewsReleases_Walkforc…

We deal with more than ten a fires a week in housing where care is provided so we’re delighted by the news that Barking and Dagenham Council has installed life saving sprinklers in 22 of its high rise blocks and in four of its extra care homes. The investment was partly funded by our sprinkler competition: More: http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/…/AC1B4F18D05A4D82B52979C6465…

Yet again a make up mirror & sunlight has combined to cause a devastating house fire. Three generations of the same family escape unhurt. Timely reminder to get mirrors, bottles and even goldfish bowls out of the sunrayshttp://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_24Au…

    • Karen Jacobs Thankfully they had a smoke alarm and they all okay. London fire brigade can I ask a question please regarding the sunray on mirrors. How far/close does a mirror have to be for this to happen thanks
    • Annette Munro This is so tragic. That poor family has lost a lifetime of precious memories. Thank goodness they are all ok.
The London Fire Brigade risk their lives on a daily basis, They are ALL REAL HERO'S!!
I will share this with all my friends, like they will do with theirs...
Remember six-year-old Thomas from Honiton in Devon who wrote us a fantastic letter asking whether we used foam at the Kingsway fire earlier this year?
He was invited to an exclusive day out with our firefighters which took place last weekend. They were shown how firefighters train, enjoyed a trip down the Thames on our fire boat and were given a tour of a fire station.
His mum Catherine said after: “The boys loved it, we had a totally amazing and fantastic day.”

Thomas, from Honiton in Devon, asked us whether foam was used at the tunnel blaze, which raged for three days underneath Kingsway.
