Stretching hoselines in high-rises is so labor intensive that we must be certain we’re advancing to the right location; it’s not a simple task to reposition the line. Who confirms the fire location of the fire at your high-rise job - the Engine or the Truck?
After removing his SCBA and turnout gear, he sat on the engine’s tailboard and told his battalion chief (BC) that he “was just a little winded.” About 5 minutes later, the FF stated “his chest was hurting.”
“The only way we can get an accurate, realistic snapshot of where fire departments are at is by getting as many of them as possible to complete the survey. That’s why it’s critical for us to get participation from every fire chief across the country,” Hylton Haynes, senior research analyst for NFPA’s Fire Analysis and Research division.
