FDNY RECEIVES PROCLAMATION FROM CITY COUNCIL CELEBRATING DEPARTMENT'S 150TH ANNIVERSARYNew York City Council members present proclamation to FDNY at City Hall on Thursday, September 17.
On Thursday, September 17, the New York City Council presented a proclamation to the FDNY in recognition of the Department's 150 years of brave service.
"I'm honored to present the FDNY with this proclamation honoring 150 years of dedicated service," said Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley.
"In every neighborhood and in every community the members of the council represent, FDNY Firefighters, Paramedics, EMTs, Fire Marshals, Fire Inspectors and civilians work diligently day and night to protect the citizens of our city," said Commissioner Nigro.
Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro, First Deputy Commissioner Robert Turner, Chief of Department James Leonard, and Chief of Operations John Sudnik were joined by leaders of unions representing FDNY members to accept the proclamation before the council's stated meeting.
"Because of what our Firefighters and Emergency Medical responders are made of - we are like no other city in the world," said Councilmember Helen Rosenthal.
