Attachment for Grownups
The Language of Attachment in the Everyday Life of Couples
Hilary Ryglewicz, LCSW
Attachment styles and experiences in childhood are well known to affect us throughout our lives. But what does ‘attachment’ mean for adults?
• What is the language of attachment in adult relationships?
• What does the ‘secure base’ mean for an adult couple?
• What is a ‘working model’ for an adult relationship?
• What produces comfort or anxiety, satisfaction or injury, in the everyday life of couples?
• How can we help adults find their way along the rocky road of love?
Case material will be included for discussion. This presentation will be valuable to individual and group as well as couple therapists. Participants will be invited to share relevant vignettes from their own work with couples and individuals.
Hilary Ryglewicz, LCSW is a psychotherapist, author and trainer with 30+ years experience with individuals and couples. She is a co-author of three books on psychotherapy and mental health, and has recently published a collection of fiction, Transgressions and Other Stories, under the name Hilary Orbach .
