FDNY Cuts Ribbon on EMS Station 59
The ribbon is cut, officially opening EMS Station 59
The FDNY officially opened EMS Station 59 in Brooklyn on March 3, a location that will serve East New York, Brownsville and Canarsie.
“This is a great day for the FDNY family and an even better day for the people we serve,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
Eighteen tours of paramedics and EMTs will work out of the 31,000-square-foot station each day.
The station also will be used by the FDNY’s Special Operations Command (SOC) Rescue Operations as their readiness deployment center.
“This shows we are truly one Department,” Chief of Department James Leonard said. “Firefighters and EMS will work side-by-side to fulfill our mission.”
Design and construction cost an estimated $1.2 million, and provides storage for EMS Personal Protective Equipment and locker space for all assigned personnel, as well as additional storage for SOC equipment.
