PRO, Carrió celebrate UCR decision

Lawmaker Elisa Carrió congratulated Radical Civic Union (UCR) party Chair Ernesto Sanz for the vote in the party’s convention last night that elected him as presidential candidate for the PASO primaries to run in an electoral deal with Carrió and Buenos Aires City mayor Mauricio Macri.
“I congratulate Ernesto Sanz and all the Radicals that joined him in a national and Republican strategy that will win in October,” Carrió said in a press release, ahead of this year’s presidential general elections.
“The victorious strategy is the one that will lead Argentina to prosperity and Republican change,” she added.
The lawmaker who last November left the centre-left UNEN coalition, which formally ceased to exist on February, said that that alliance was “a successful local experience that gave the opposition three senators and ten lawmakers” but she stressed that such coalition “is not enough” to win the national elections and “lead (the country) towards the Republic.”
PRO political coordinator Emilio Monzó also celebrated the radical decision, affirming that "now the time has come in which we have the challenge and responsibility of working together to achieve change for the country, which implies less poverty, more security and prosperity and, fundamentally, the recovery of the republic as a way of governing."
"I congratulate the radical party, with Ernesto Sanz at its head, for the internal debate, and I am happy that together we will face the road ahead that from December 10 onwards will allow us to put Argentina back in the place it deserves," the strategist added.
