Review from Denise A.
Manhattan, NYComing from a Wino but not an alcoholic.
When I moved into the neighborhood about a year ago, I would pass this place after closing and thought it was a florist because of the unique storefront. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I realized it was a wine shop after I passed during store hours and actually stopped to look at the name!
Honestly, besides the great selection and reasonable prices, the one thing that hooked me was the name. Our neighborhood is littered with "Wine & Liquor" stores that can probably provide me the common choices at comparable prices, however, the thought behind "In Vino Veritas," reflected the serious intent and commitment the owners have to their business.
They bring us good wine! It's what they do! -

New York, NYSo, I live around the corner and have been in here three times, twice receiving mediocre service (at best). The first time I went in was around the holidays and I picked up a few bottles of wine to take to a party. As I am paying I notice a sign by the register saying something along the lines of don't cough on us! We don't want to get sick. Okay, here's the thing, I get that. However, the sign was a bit overboard and then when I joked about it he got defensive and was kind of rude.
The second time I went it I grabbed a few bottle and left with no issues. However, the last time I went in there some guy was reading a magazine, didn't greet us, didn't ask us if we needed any help and didn't say a thing as we decided to walk right out. Since we had been to a wine store a few block down on 2nd Ave a few days before and got the best service ever, we walked right back there and will continue to do so.
I'm sorry, but you work in the service industry. How about learning how to give some professional service. It's a shame because the name is very cool, the location is ideal (for me at least) and it looks like a nice place. Too bad. -

Manhattan, NYBest Wine in Manhattan!
Every time I go there I get the most knowledgeable advice on wines. They even suggest lower price wines if it fits what I'm in the mood for. Their expertise is unmatchable and the prices are very very responsible. There is NO other choice in the area....even in all Manhattan.
Regarding Brian K's comment about the sign at the counter, who wants people sneezing on the them? I checked this guys comments, he's one of the cry babies that gives negative feedback because his meal wasn't comped or the wine shop didn't refund his money because he drank 90% of the bottle. Please keep Yelp REAL! -

Stumbled in here on the way to a local Yelp gathering.
I didn't know about the dudes being brothers until now, but they are definitely super friendly and helpful!
The entire setup of the store is very tasteful and I enjoy the ambiance. On top of that there is a pretty decent selection of wine (bias towards white and Italian) and the prices are not too bad (in fact you might even get a few $ off here and there). Definitely my new favorite in the neighborhood. -

Manhattan, NYI'm giving it 3 stars for two reasons, one good and one bad.
I live right above this store, and LOVE wine. So when I moved here, I thought "it's MEANT TO BE!" They have signs that say over 250 wines under $15... aka my kind of place!!! And that they do, tons of varieties, most even under $8.99 (I'm not picky, so I don't need a $20 bottle anyway. But, Yellow Tail Merlot for $7.99 is fantastic!). Big plus there.
The negative: I am a 27 year old female, who, to be honest, could pass for 18. I may not seem like a valuable customer or someone who needs attention, but the first time I walked in there, I was literally ignored for 10 minutes. I walked around, looked at everything, all the while not even getting a "hello" or "can I help you find something." Both men were busy talking to a much older man, (well, older than me).. who obviously "knew his stuff" about wine. They may have thought they were making a good investment, but they lost a loyal, and most likely 2x a week, customer.
I was in a bind the other night, and ran downstairs quickly to grab a bottle. The man who helped me, (obviously not one of the brothers from the pics I'm seeing, as he was a younger Hispanic man).. was FABULOUS. Helpful, friendly, and genuinely seemed to mean it when he told me to have a nice night, see you again soon.
Maybe it's just the brothers that turned me off because the prices are awesome, but to be honest, being in sales myself... customer service matters. Hopefully they'll read this someday. -

Encino, CAThey've got reasonable wines at reasonable prices. But so do other shops. When you walk into this place there's no sense that they give a damn whether you're there or not. Warmth factor, zero -- and this isn't what a neighborhood wine shop should lack. I'm new in town...will keep looking. -

Brooklyn, NYThis wine shop is excellent. I have only met one of the brothers, but every time I have been in they are incredibly helpful. I have limited knowledge of wine, but by telling them what I like in a wine (even though the adjectives were definitely terrible) they have steered me to great bottles of wine. At this moment, they have never suggested a wine that I don't like! They also have wine tastings on thursday. They have a great selection of wine, and it's easy to find a great bottle for $10 or so if you're on a budget. -

Manhattan, NYSuch a great wine shop! These guys really know their wines, and they help you pick what you want very quickly. They know you don't have all day, so name a price range, what you like, and you won't go wrong. Plenty in a good price range, but a good selection for when you want to splurge. They've even got quite a few from smaller, less known wineries! They also have plenty of bottles chilled, just waiting for the night to start. -
