But as we have learned before, Yelp gets a lot of complaints! That is one of its key functions, after all..
So here we go for representative sampling--Yeah, not everyone is thrilled but again pretty damn good overall--one person suggests you may get snubbed if you are not a "regular", but that is not repeated by others..

Review from Marie D.
My family of four came to Maruzzella tonight after being rudely turned away at Yefsi (see my review of them for the story). We were seated immediately, treated superbly, and enjoyed everything we had (salad, dinner, wine, coffee, dessert). The owner was gracious and attentive without being overbearing, as were the servers.
I'm so tired of snotty attitudes at restaurants - no food is worth being treated poorly. Maruzzella values their guests and serves a good meal - they win. -
Review from Jerry F.
Manhattan, NYQuite ordinary. Nothing was outstanding. Prices were fair. Service was good, Food was only good. Pasta special was ok. Linguine vongole was also ok, but I have tasted better and more flavorful. Dessert was uneventful. We have better places to go, even on the upper east side. -

Branford, CTWe made an early 6:30 reservation for 3 this past Saturday for dinner. It was our first time there. They made it obvious that we were not regulars as the greeting was minimal and by this I mean the manager seemed totally disinterested as he led us to a table. That welcome was followed by a rather long wait for the first of our waiters to ask if we wanted any drinks. We asked for a wine list. The wine was a time in coming but then we had waiter number 2 who arrived with our menus. The food was fine but we did note that the bread was really so ordinary and noone thought to ask if we wanted butter rather than the dish of oil that was placed on the table. Our 3rd waiter arrived at the end of the meal with the check.
They made their point that we were not regulars and we don't think we will be joining their club in the future. So many Italian restaurants with real tasty breads........and so little time.

Manhattan, NYExcellent neighborhood find!
Almost everything on the menu is made from scratch.
We had the Pasta Bolognese and the Sea Bass... Both excellent, but the homemade Key Lime pie really is out of this world!
Friendly and attentive staff and an ownership that clearly cares about their patrons, decent inexpensive wine list, what's not to like? -
Review from Marlo G.
I first discovered Maruzzella about 6 years ago and hadn't been there in almost that long, so when the health grade at my current favorite restaurant was pending, I thought it would be a good time to revisit. What I found was exactly what I remember!
-Friendly and helpful staff
-Large amounts of food, so there's plenty to take home
-Huuuge oddly shaped gnocchi---something about them remind me of knuckles
-Tomato sauce on the sweet side
-Pepsi products a bit flat, your glass refilled and added to your tab
-One (accessible) restroom for entire restaurant/staff
In a town where restaurants come and go, the fact that Maruzzella is still here after all these years says a lot!
Credit cards accepted.
Street parking.
Al fresco dining in warmer weather.Listed in: For Gnocchi Lovers! -
Review from Anna B.
New York, NYThis place was delicious!
I met two other women here Sunday night for dinner. I was 15 minutes early, and they sat me, despite being fairly busy. The waiters, most of whom seem Italian, very much know what they're talking about.
We had a stuffed mushroom appetizer which I highly recommend. I had papardelle pasta with truffle oil, mushrooms and goat cheese, which was maybe one of the best pasta dishes I've ever tasted. The other two women each got veal (there were two different types on the menu). We were all extremely happy with our food. For dessert, we split key lime pie and a panna cotta, both which were homemade. I am not usually a huge fan of either of those desserts, but they were both delicious.
The interior is very rustic: exposed brick, and some painted walls. There were dates there as well as a few large parties.
This place has been around for over 20 years and is family owned, and it's very apparent. Every is friendly and the food is unbelievable. I definitely will be coming back, and highly recommend going.
