Architectural investigator-- 328 East 62nd Street...the typical Manhattan utilitarian building

I could not resist wanting to do a building like this near an off ramp of the 59th Street Bridge because it is SO much an old warehouse-type Manhattan commercial building that has in its time been used for God-knows-what...

I hope I can find out something interesting here, maybe not.

OK, first the city records

Well, this is listed as the home of the new york center for child development...yet i have been by this building a couple of times and it looks deserted to me..(?)

Here is their website which is listed as if it were still current

“I love working at New York Center for Child Development because this school enables me to do a lot for the children. I can get them on the right road at a very early age and help their parents. I can make them feel loved, needed and successful and give them confidence and self-esteem in spite of their special needs. Basically, I can change the path they are headed down.”

“Before he went to New York Center for Child Development, Marquis wasn’t interacting at all. He was in his own little world amongst other children. Now, when I walk him to school, he runs up to his classmates and says, ‘Come on, let’s play.’ He’s the one who brightens everything up.”

“Andres was always a smart and loving kid, but if I had sent him to a traditional preschool all he would have been was a disruption and a behavior problem. New York Center for Child Development set him on the right path right from the beginning and it’s going to be a smoother road for him all down the line, that’s for sure.”
