Trader Joes is still here and the prices are the best in the area which makes it a destination grocery store for many New Yorkers. The lines are still long but they tend to move quickly (wait time about 10 minutes or less). The produce section has gotten better slightly but you are better off picking it up elsewhere. Everything else is always stocked up.
Best days to go are Friday or Saturday nights. Worse days to go are Sunday and Monday nights. Honestly, the 10 minute wait is worth the money you save while shopping here.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I'm going to give this Trader Joe's two thumbs up. This location is a two story splendor filled with all kinds of goods and goodies. I wasn't able to find the elusive cookie butter here, but I did find a ton of other stuff to buy as gifts for friends and family back in Hawaii.
I loved how much space there was to browse the aisles. I've been to other locations where you are literally climbing over people to get to the stuff you want to buy. That didn't happen here. And speaking of buying, when you are ready to purchase your items, don't be afraid. The line may look incredibly long, but the checkout process is speedy and efficient.Listed in: nyc.2013 -

Best time to go is either when they first open or at 5PM.
Get their Korean kalbi, and grill it! It is legit, and so is their kimchi, though you must eat it within a week or else it goes very sour.
I prefer this location than in Chelsea. Every location has excellent customer service. -

TJ's has improved in some ways since the last time. They have a lot more organic produce, but I really dislike that they package it. There is always one bad one in with the good and it's a huge waste of plastic. While the price is lower than other grocery stores, I end up throwing out some of it due to them forcing me to buy spoiled food. Lame.
HIGHLIGHTS: The prices on organic OJ, Aloe, and paper products. Long, but pretty fast lines, Good customer service, cheap and durable re-useable bags
BUZZKILLS: Few vegan things, wasteful packagingListed in: The Yelp 100 Challenge1 Previous Review: Show all »

The only market in New York that has happy workers, and makes me feel like I'm back home in California. Enough said. -

I love Trader Joes from the food to the service. I think their line system is efficient, especially compared to whole foods. You know you're gonna have to wait so suck it up! Only minus is that only the 14th street location sells $3 wine (I asked it's a manhattan liquor license law) -

Whenever I find myself on the Upper West Side, I find myself at this Trader Joe's. I think that I'm now on autopilot - there's no thinking involved!
TJ's has a great selection of foods at reasonable prices. There are the basics - bread, milk, cheese, nuts etc. as well as prepared meals (frozen and fresh). You can also find ethnic foods like dumplings and beef pho in their frozen section. The frozen pizzas are really good - we tried the Spinach Pizza the other day...very tasty! If you're in the mood for a sweet treat, try the Cranberry Oatmeal Dunkers. They are so so good!!!
You can also purchase flowers for as inexpensive as $4 - really cute bouquets!
As others have mentioned, the lines can be LONG. That's no exaggeration. However, they move very quickly, and you'll find yourself picking up some extra goodies while you're on line! The staff is helpful and friendly as well.
I'm sure I'll find myself at TJ's on the UWS very soon!!
