A couple of months ago I purchased a brand new Garrison bag from Ghurka in Vintage Chestnut bag.  It is a truly gorgeous bag and I get compliments on it all the time.  While some of the smaller accessory pieces that are made in Spain and are quite nice in their own right, the bags are still made in Connecticut by the same four craftsman who have been making them for years.  It is unfortunate that there is misinformation out there about the bags no longer being made in Connecticut.  That is unfortunate and not true.  My bag has outstanding color, suppleness in the leather and outstanding construction.  I cannot imagine a better bag and they get better with age.  I subsequently purchased a large pouch and travel accessory piece in matching Vintage Chestnut that are also outstanding in quality.  I love Ghurka and am a fan for life.

Ghurka was once a great leather goods source. Now I understand Norwalk no longer produces the bags but China does.It was once an adventure to see what new styles they had as they were so collectable but now they seem somewhat ordinary.I have many of the Marley bags and am taking great care of them. They are no longer replacable. What a shame american craftsmanship gone..perhaps lower rent than the Plaza could have kept the work in the USA..??

    My 2013 update!

I was so happy to see Ghurka is going back to its roots.I visited the store and saw once again the leather goods I once loved. When one needs a handsome bag for all of ones stuff Ghurka is the best!

The store is located in the Plaza Hotel and the place itself is pretty amazing at Christmas time. Decorations are awesome, and it looks like the home of the rich and famous (and FAKE--NICE TAN in the winter).

I headed over for a brief case because I really like my brother in laws and was "helped" by Lourdes. She was efficient, but not really interested, and must not have felt like talking to me or my buddy. It was all bidness.....guess it can be when they are located there.

I bought the "Parker", got my monogram for free, no sales tax as I had it shipped for $21. Beautiful bags in the store.

Can't wait to get the bag, and I would recommend you shop via the web for any of their merchandise.

    Total - $995 (bag) + $21 shipping
