Let me see if I can find anything more informative than just its website..
Oh, here is the website by the way--it is part of NYU Langone, not Beth Israel
http://hjd.med.nyu.edu/
I wonder if there are reviews as well,...but first just for information--well, only a mention in the NYU Langone Wikipedia article and no history or anything! Odd...
There are, however, Yelp reviews

I had the fortune (misfortune?) of a 5 day stay at the Hospital for Joint Diseases as a result of an infection from an earlier Achilles Tendon repair surgery. I had to stay at the hospital to get intravenous (IV) antibiotics to annialate out that pesky infection. My stay in the hospital was actually really really pleasant! The nurses were awesome and the nursing assistants were event better. With a few exceptions the nurses were very attentive and gentle with all of the poking and prodding they did on me. I had to get injections into my stomach every day and they listened to me whine every morning about the shots, and were actually pretty sympathetic about it.
The thing I was most surprised about was the food... it was actually really good! I was shocked! First off, they gave you the option of picking what you wanted to eat the next day... that was probably the highlight of my stay at the hospital. :-p One day they had saffron kohlrabi! What kind of hospital serves saffron kolrabi! It was pretty damn tasty.
The absolute worst part of my stay was when they had to insert a line into my arm/aortic valve so I could do the IV antibiotics at home. It was a painful procedure and the nurses were not very sensitive to the fact that they were shoving a tube through my arm and very close to my heart. The only saving grace was a very sweet nurse named A. Furry Bunny (legal name) who chatting and sang with me as I tried to get through the ordel. Love you Fluffy!
All in all, very good experince. Would give them a 5 except for the PICC line placement.Listed in: The Yelp 100 Challenge -

I was visiting someone at the Rusk Rehab facility here. And I have to say, it's always great when you experience things they way they "should" be. The rehab facility was amazing from start to finish. On walking in I was greeted immediately by the gentleman behind the front desk. He was courteous and prompt.
During my visit, I noticed the nurse come in to check on my friend's mother. She asked if she needed anything and informed her that she'd check in on her again, but not to hesitate pressing the call button if she needed her to come back. When I come into a room to visit someone at the hospital, I'm always repositioning the call button by bringing it closer. For some reason it's dangling out of the patient's reach when I arrive.
But this NYU nurse is actually saying it's there for you to...use. Okay, I'm shocked! There was even a guy who came by offering snacks (and even gave us a few cookies too). All in all the experience was good. No one wants to be admitted to the hospital or a medical facility. But it's being surrounded by medical personnel who actually like their job that makes a difference. -

I went here to their urgent care after I awoke in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in my thumb. Spoiler alert: It was tendinitis. The doctor that looked at me had 3 students with him, which was OK. He asked the students what they thought. The students probed my hand and fitted me for a brace.
Pros: they saw me within a half hour at the urgent care, took my insurance and didn't keep me all day
Cons: My x rays were ordered for my foot - even though my hand hurt. The x ray technician didn't want to hear that my hand hurt because foot x rays were ordered. I refused to take off my shoes and guess who won that round? -

Oh yeee, Dr. Kenneth Egol and his team. Our saviours!! May you live long and prosper.
One of my most favorite humans had a serious fracture. She did. They fixed her up. But more than that - they treated her like a human being. They kept her informed through the process. Nurses in Immediate Care there are gems.
After feeling absolutely helpless, being treated like shit by 2 other hospitals and doctors, they gave us back the hope that someone in this city still cares about their patients. -

I had back surgery here back in '05. I was fifteen as the time, and was stuck in pediatrics. Aside from one or two dumb nurses, the rest of the staff was wonderful and kind. They had wonderful physical therapy after my surgery, they had video games, and more. They helped me during a very painful time.
It's clean, professional, and definitely recommend it! -

This hospital is probably one of the better ones you can be sent to for rehab within NYC. I had my mom sent here for intensive rehab following a stroke and found the staff to be very friendly. There was some initial confusion as to some of the things my mother needed in terms of care but once it was ironed out everything was fine. I guess every hospital has its ups and downs but this one serves its patients better than most. Most of the staff handled themselves and all of my questions pretty professionally and courteously. Sometimes it seems that they do not have enough nurses on the shift to serve the patients effectively and timely. My mother had to wait long periods of time to get medication and simple things like using a bedpan which bothered me. Other than those minor things the hospital is pretty well off.
