Aha, another Shake Shack--as usual very crowded, this time it seems like people from Museum of Natural History

Right behind the massive pile of stonework that is the Museum of Natural History, this Shake Shack really packs them in all right...

Now that I think of it, just about every eatery I saw in this part of the Upper West Side seemed very busy indeed--well, middle of the day on a decently warm but not-too-warm Saturday, what do you expect?-- anyway, if they still have the Shake Shack in Madison Square ( it always had a huge line of people waiting for it) ( I really should know if it is still there, I go by Madison Square often enough...but, as I said, I am the typical Manhattanite who is moving on fairly fast paced and determined to do what I have to do and get to the next place...and I it is only when I slow down and get the camera out that I really start to notice my surroundings...

But I digress. Here is Yelp's low down on the Museum oriented Shake Shack--Hee hee --as you might suspect, it has the tastes of the American market down pat and so we go out for tonight's reviews on a virtual sea of raves

This is the BEST burger place  I've ever been to.  The bun was soft and tasty.  The burger was properly seasoned. The tomatoes were absolutely delicious.  The cheese was perfectly melted. The fries were golden brown, crisp & crinkled cut.  "The snozberries taste like snozberries." Even the Grape Fanta was on point!  I can't say enough good things about this place. Dammit!  It was betterthanmymommaburgers. Do yourself a favor......come here and have a burger.  YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

    P.S.  Next time I'll have a shake.

I am a big fan of Shake Shack's burgers.  I came here at noon on a Friday, and the line was so long, that it stretched outside the front doors.  I placed my order and waited 20 minutes for 2 SmokeShack burgers, 2 regular fries, and 2 Fifty/Fifty (half lemonade & half iced tea).  While I was waiting for my order, my friend was trying to find a table in the basement, but the line to be seated reached the 1st floor, so we decided to eat on a bench, right outside the American Museum of Natural History, and it was wonderful.

It was my first time ordering the SmokeShack, and I am not disappointed.  It's a cheeseburger with smoked bacon, cherry peppers, and some ShackSauce.  The cherry peppers adds some heat in the burger, but nothing that will make you gulp a gallon of water.  The Fifty/Fifty was a great companion to the burger, so refreshing. And, the fries were hot and crispy.

I do recommend to avoid the lunch crowd.  It was packed with a lot of kids (Summer vacation) and a lot of tourists.  You can always take it to go and find a spot right outside the museum, or even walk further into Central Park and enjoy the views and the summer breeze.

I rarely eat burgers, and it even takes some convincing to get me to try a gourmet burger restaurant, but, wow, Shake Shack! I came here with almost no expectations. The only time I'd heard of it was a passing, "You're going to NY? You should try Shake Shack." Their menu is amazing. Texas recently got In-N-Out, but now I'm really wishing we had gotten Shake Shack instead (or in addition)!

I had the shroom burger. I love mushrooms and almost always get it as a topping on my burgers, but an actual fried portobello mushroom burger?! Of course I had to try it. It actually looked a bit unappetizing from the outside (fried and dried), but once you bite into it, it's surprisingly and deliciously moist with just enough crisp. And the melted muenster & cheddar cheeses... wow.

Bring Shake Shack to Texas!! Especially because we can never get enough fried food :)

the burgers are good but not GREAT.  Certainly not worth the wait in line so I recommend you avoid the lunch time crowd and go late at night when there is little to no line and plenty of seating to eat and enjoy your food.

First time I've been to a Shake Shack! I can definitely see why everyone raves about this place. My double SmokeShack was the perfect end to a long day of walking around.

If you're going to this location though, I do recommend that you do not go during normal meal times. I could not believe the line at this place! My friend and I were looking for a quick dinner, but we ended up waiting in line for a good thirty minutes before getting to order. Apparently, this is a pretty common occurrence at this location.

Before even going to NY, I heard much praise about Shake Shack so I knew I had to give it a try! Most Cali people like to compare it to In-n-out and it definitely is comparable.

*Shack burger: Basically a cheese burger. The cheese melted onto the meat so well and the flavor of the meat was mouthwatering. I can taste the great quality in their meat and ingredients. BUT the burger was awfully small. I was not really satisfied after.

*Shroom burger: took a bite of my friend's and the portobello mushroom stuffed with cheese was full of flavor! I will tried a Shack Stack next time

    *Fries: perfectly crispy and crunch

+There are a good number of seats downstairs! You can possibly find a table down there if you're lucky!

In the words of my Buddy Ken, "Shake Shack Holla Back"!

To celebrate on the first official spring like day, I am feasting on this most glorious food of the godesses! This time I am trying the Shroom burger and whichever Shake I fancy! Cheers to good burgrers in spring! :)

Consistently the best burgers I have ever had in the city.  I come here often and always get the double cheeseburger w/ shack sauce along with a side order of French fries.  Always wanted to try the frozen custard but never have enough room for it, unfortunately.  Minus 1 star for the unbelievably (but justifiably) long lines.

If you're ever craving for a perfect burger, Shake Shack is the way to go! Their classic Shack Burger is the burger that makes me coming back for more. This juicy burger is cooked to the right tenderness and includes a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. And of course their Cheese Fries and Custards are absolute heaven. Bottom line: Best burgers on the planet!

Now what I miss most is the Double Stack Burger that was removed from the menu ever since Aug 2009. This stack included two cheeseburgers and one 'shroom burger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. It was replaced with the Shack Stack which only has one cheeseburger but has the option to be made into a double.

Like everyone else who did not fancy the long winding lines, my biggest concern would likewise be the unending wait time. Yea, the burgers are worth the wait but this also means that I can only enjoy you on a leisurely day!

I was really impressed with this take on the burger joint. I got the hot dog with crispy shallots and cheese, delish. . The staff was welcoming and guided us through the menu options. my husband got a double stacked burger with bacon and it was cooked perfectly.. We got there right at 11 and easily found a seat, but by the time we left it was packed.  If you love good food NYC can be overwhelming because of so many good options, but i think the shake shack is a good easy  lunch bet. if you're visiting NY, definitely make one of these locations part of your itinerary. If there's no seats, get it "to go" and sit in the park!
