Congratulations to Jay Colbert who was elected as the new #IAFF 3rd District Vice President. He was sworn into office Thursday, January 28th at IAFF headquarters.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has announced a new five-year plan to increase the number of families who receive MDA care and support by 50 percent to 150,000 individuals annually by the year 2020. The organization also plans to increase funding for research toward drug development, and clinical trials to help find treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy and other related diseases. The initiative was discussed at a special event at Carnegie Hall in New York City Friday. Celebrities such as NBC Today Show co-host and anchor Natalie Morales, and TNT's Ernie Johnson participated in the announcement. At the big event, the MDA also unveiled a new logo and tagline.

Members of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Firefighter Affinity Group will meet at the 2016 FIREHOUSE World Conference January 31-February 4, 2016 in San Diego on February 3. The gathering will be an opportunity for fellow Eagle Scouts to share the camaraderie of the fire service with the fellowship of scouting.
