Please take a moment to check out this fundraiser for the  FDNY FF Michael Kiefer Fund. All monies we receive from them go directly towards educational grants. If you can, please consider making a donation. Thanks
13 years ago, on September 11th, 2001, the World Trade Center in New York City was viciously attacked by a hateful foreign enemy. We lost our only son and brother, 25 year old FDNY FF Michael Kiefer, who was assigned to Ladder 132 in...

The New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation has had the distinct pleasure of working with some amazing burn surgeons over the years. As many know, this year Dr. Roger Yurt has begun his well-deserved retirement. While we will undoubtedly miss Dr. Yurt, both professionally and personally, we are also extremely excited that another terrific surgeon has taken over the role of Director of the Burn Center. We welcome a familiar face, a friend, and a tremendous supporter of...

Please take a few minutes today to help us remember three men who lost their lives battling a fire in Queens on Father's Day in 2001. Please keep the lives and the family of Harry Ford, John Downing, and Brian Fahey in your thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace brothers.
Before veteran firefighter Harry Ford raced to battle a furious blaze at a Queens hardware store on June 17, 2001, he took care of some important business first...

We would like to give a huge thanks to the students at PS 97 in the Bronx. Their student government collected $300 through a penny harvest program and donated the money to our foundation. They also added some letters in with their donation which touched our hearts. THANK YOU PS 97!!

Today we ask everyone to take a minute to remember Detective Brian Moore. A young man, a dedicated police officer, a son, a brother, a hero. Please keep him, his family, and his fellow police officers in your thoughts and your prayers. Rest in Peace Detective Moore.

We would like to wish all nurses, but especially those who work at the Cornell Burn Center, a very happy National Nurses Day! They do incredible things each and every day for both the citizens of NY and the members of the FDNY. What else can we say but THANK YOU!!
At this years American Burn Association Conference, as with every year, the staff of Cornell Burn Center submitted a multitude of research projects. We were in awe of the great research that is being done everyday inside the walls of the hospital to further burn care. We would like to congratulate every staff member on a fantastic job, and especially would like to congratulate the team who took 1st place in their category for their project on Digital Photography and Burn Center Clinician Workflow. Keep up the great work!!!!

The limited space we have to type here is not nearly enough to describe Dr. Yurt. He has been so devoted to caring for burn injuries, devoted to the staff at the burn center, and devoted to the members of the FDNY and the Foundation. Most importantly, he has been truly devoted to every person who has ever sought care at Cornell. Thousands of FDNY firefighters have been spoken to right before graduating from the academy regarding burn injuries and care by Dr. Yurt. He has made a tremendous impact at the hospital, in burn care, in the FDNY, and in NYC. While we will miss working with Dr. Yurt, we wish him all the best in his much deserved retirement.
Roger W. Yurt, MD and director at New York-Presbyterian's William Randolph Hearst Burn Center will retire after this year.

We received this message along with a donation to the foundation. Receiving such a beautiful message is one of the best parts of our work. We are grateful for your mother's service to our troops and grateful for the individuals who took the time to ensure your wallet's return to you. This world is truly filled with kind, caring, and honest souls. Kudos to all those involved and thank you so much for your donation!
"My wallet was lost on a recent trip to NYC. A kind soul gave it to the MTA lost and found, and it made its way back to me in CO with everything in it! My Mom was an Army burn unit nurse, and today would have been her 73rd BD. Thank you and blessings for all that you do!"

We had an awesome opportunity to go to John Jay College for their Ignite A Smile event. During this event, students of the college made handcrafted get well cards for the children who are hospitalized at Cornell Hospital. They also had an opportunity to learn a little bit about fire safety and burn prevention from two members of the foundation. It was such a great event, and the students made an incredible amount of cards. Thanks to all the students at John Jay for taking the time out of their busy schedule to put a smile on the face of a child during this holiday season!
