How at risk from fire is your borough? Is your landlord providing you with the right protection? From October all private landlords must fit smoke alarms and install carbon monoxide alarms in rooms with solid fuel burners or face being slapped with a £5,000 fine. To help them protect tenants the Government has given fire and rescue services, including us, a limited number of free alarms to give away to landlords. Let your's know about the offer. Like Perlucia, who lost all of her hair and sustained serious injuries to her face and hands. Yet again a make up mirror & sunlight has combined to cause a devastating house fire. Three generations of the same family escape unhurt. Timely reminder to get mirrors, bottles and even goldfish bowls out of the sunrayshttp://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_24Au…

Remember six-year-old Thomas from Honiton in Devon who wrote us a fantastic letter asking whether we used foam at the Kingsway fire earlier this year?
He was invited to an exclusive day out with our firefighters which took place last weekend. They were shown how firefighters train, enjoyed a trip down the Thames on our fire boat and were given a tour of a fire station.
His mum Catherine said after: “The boys loved it, we had a totally amazing and fantastic day.”

A road safety awareness day hosted by the Brigade and the world famous Ace Café on the North Circular Road recently was a roaring success. Popular with the Ton Up boys of the 1950s and the Rockers of the 1960s, the iconic biker venue still hosts numerous motorcycle and car meets. To illustrate the potential consequence of road traffic collisions crews and London Ambulance Service colleagues, simulated vehicle rescues and demonstrated how they release trapped casualties.
