It was unfortunate that we ended up calling in sick on a Monday for a few shifts because we needed the following Saturday off. It hurt our own brothers in the long run. NRMA was actually squared away prior to the hyped up "Regionalization ".

I know I've never missed a pension contribution deduction from my paycheck, and I'm willing to be neither did the NO firefighters effected by this.

They have won many court battles and are still waiting on payout now going on a couple years. The interest keeps adding onto the total amount, but the city hasn't the funds to pay them. Another promise made a couple months ago and still no payout.

The city will reap what it sows when guys retire ASAP and then have trouble filling the openings with quality applicants. Sad that in the end its the citizens of Providence that are going to get the brunt of this change in younger less experienced, less qualified firefighters.
