FDNY Investigates Deadly Queens Fire

FDNY Investigates Deadly Queens House Fire

There is supposed to be a video with this but I cannot find any working link
A Queens man was killed and a city firefighter injured Thursday morning following a residential fire.
Fire officials said the two-alarm fire started around 6:30 a.m. at 79-04 265th Street in Glen Oaks and took almost two hours to get the blaze under control.
Investigators found a 58-year-old man in the basement of the building.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors described the chaos they woke up to.
"It was no fire, no flames, but a lot of smoke," said one neighbor. "Time went by, truck after truck, ambulance after ambulance came by."
"When I looked further out I saw fire engines down the block to the avenue," said another neighbor. "When I came out there were all these firemen stationed here. And all the trucks went down 265th street to the next avenue. And more trucks kept on pulling."
One firefighter was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
