105 years ago on this date, the oldest existing indoor ice hockey arena still used for the sport in the 21st century, Boston Arena, opened for the first time. The old ice house, now known as the Matthews Arena, gave birth to the Boston Bruins, the Boston Olympics and the New England Whalers and was the cradle of high school and college hockey in Greater Boston. The bastion of US sporting history is a spectator's dream for live athletic contests, including basketball games. (1910)
