In NYC, we refer to the houses as a firehouse, not a fire station. We spend 24 hour shifts, holidays, weekends, you name it... and all away from our families. So, it is our home away from home, not our office. We treat it as such; It is expected that there would be some strong feelings against creating an 'open house' environment, it's a shame the media doesn't understand this connection. However, our doors are always open to the public because that is who we are here for. If you are in the NYC area and would like to learn more about the FDNY, fire safety or even how to join NYC's Bravest, come on down to any firehouse. Here's to another 150 years more of keeping the Big Apple safe!

I want to get the website up and running too but I was more excited about the app. Unfortunately all of this is taken a back seat lately because I'm studying for the Lieutenants test in June. Every day I try to do a little more to the app. Hopefully in a few months, we will be up and running fully with the app, the website and the social media pages.
