The 15 recipients of the 2014 Chief Russell Ramsey Award were honored for saving the life of Dispatcher Sherri Johnson-Campbell on Aug. 4, 2014. She was working at Brooklyn Fire Radio when she suddenly collapsed and went into cardiac arrest.
Members of Emergency Medical Dispatch as well as Fire Dispatch Operations were honored for the rescue, and Dispatcher Johnson-Campbell handed out the awards to all of her heroes.

“This is so emotional for me,” she said. “It’s because of them that I can see my family again.”
She also stressed the importance of bystander CPR. “I’m living proof that it works,” she said.
