Kicillof: 'Establishment economists have never been right in 12 years'
Economy Minister Axel Kicillof.
Economy Minister Axel Kicillof has harshly questioned Argentine “establishment” economists for “continuously” making wrong predictions.
The Economy Minister, who is currently attending the International Monetary Fund (IMF) joint annual meeting with the World Bank held in Washington, aimed particularly at economists Miguel Broda, Carlos Melconian and José Espert.
“These establishment economists who continuously make predictions [on the Argentine economy] have broken a record, because they have never been right in 12 years,” Kicillof told reporters today.
“They have predicted a crisis every year, a hyperinflation every three years and a hiperdevaluation every four years, and nothing ever happens. They served as organic intellectuals for neoliberalism and they carry the weight of failed predictions and failed economic policies on their shoulders,” he added.
Broda, Melconian and Espert addressed the Inter American Congress on Commerce and Production on Wednesday, were they made catastrophic predictions on the future of the country for 2016.
Kicillof also dismissed Clarín newspaper claims about the decrease of mortgage credits in the country. “Thanks to the Procrear program, Argentina has reached a record level of mortgage credits,” he argued.
