After attending the G20 summit in Brisbane, Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman will travel to New York tomorrow to resume talks on the development of a legal framework to regulate restructuring of foreign sovereign debt, a project that was suggested by Argentina with the support of the G77+China and approved by the UN General Assembly in September.
The official communiqué of the G20 summit released at the end of the bloc’s meeting in Brisbane, Australia, included a paragraph on sovereign debt restructuring process, as requested by Argentina. Economy Minister Axel Kicillof and Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman celebrated it and described it as ‘historic’.

Leaders from the G20 group of nations agreed to boost flagging global growth, tackle climate change and crack down on tax avoidance but ties between the West and Russia plummeted to a new low over the crisis in Ukraine.
