	[Share]Published: October 28, 2014 Mayor Thanks FDNY Members who Responded to Ebola Patient Mayor Bill de Blasio and Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro address the crowd surrounded by numerous dignitaries and FDNY members. Mayor Bill de Blasio joined Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro at EMS Station 10 on Oct. 28 to thank the FDNY members who helped safely treat and transport New York City's first Ebola patient on Oct. 23. “New Yorkers can take great pride and comfort in knowing these professionals are there to keep them safe," Mayor de Blasio said. "They demonstrated extraordinary teamwork and that's something we should all be proud of.“ EMS members from Stations 10 and 14, as well as the HazTac Battalion cared for the patient. Firefighters from Engine 44 then helped with decontamination. “These members went above and beyond to ensure the patient got the care he needed,“ Commissioner Nigro said. “I'm proud to be their Commissioner.“ There are around 370 HazMat and HazTac paramedics and EMTs operating 36 ambulances throughout the five boroughs. Battalion Chief Edward Bergamini and EMS Capt. Paul Miano supervised the response. “They went right to work and trusted their training,“ Chief Bergamini said. “I was proud to supervise them.“ Capt. Miano added, “Our core mission is to provide care to anyone who needs it. We are here to help.“
