A former Canadian defence minister is heading a speaking tour about the alleged cover up of UFOs by world governments.
A crowd of about 400 people attended the "Disclosure Canada Tour" stop at the University of Calgary Saturday, to hear keynote speaker Paul Hellyer. Hellyer served as Canada's defence minister in the 1960s.
Hellyer and the other speakers on the tour want the government to release all the information they have on UFOs.
The 91-year-old Ontarian first spoke out about his belief that governments are covering up an alien presence in 2005. He says UFOs are as common in our skies as airplanes.
Hellyer said he's participating in the tour because he's committed to spreading the word about his beliefs.
"Much of the media won't touch it," he told CTV Calgary. "So you just have to keep working away and hope that someday you get a critical mass, and they will say, in one way or another, 'Mr. President or Mr. Prime Minister we want the truth and we want it now because it affects our lives.'"
The tour is scheduled to hit Vancouver on Sunday.
Been an amateur astronomer since I was twelve years old. Studied the stars in books, through telescopes, etc from all parts of BC. An avid outdoorsman I have watched the stars from deep in the forest more time than I care to mention. Despite all of that I have never seen anything that I couldn't explain. The law of averages guarantees that we are not alone in the universe and current observations suggest that there is even more life than we have ever expected. Still, the distances are so great and the stars so spread out it is highly unlikely that anyone has come calling. The only secrets the government could reveal would be boring tales of incompetence from all governments since confederation. Sorry folks, no X-Files !
It would be kinder to not report anything Paul Hellyer says, if you get my drift.
I think the closer you get to light speed time slows..yes..thats the theory..the years needed to travel would be a fraction of what it takes for us to evolve as a species..I don't think its as basic as that, however we have to look at bending of time and space..interesting thought..relativity says that the closer we get to speed of light, the more time slows down, to the point of time stopping at light speed..so does that mean light is travelling at time stopped?
We do not need to worry in Canada. In every Alien invasion movie made it is the USA that gets attacked and defeats them to save the world. So don't worry be happy.
My husband, aunt, uncle and I in 1988 were camping and witnessed the most bizarre thing up in the sky and to this day wonder what it was. It was around 10 at night and we say a light up in the sky jig jag. At first we thought an airplane, then a falling star, but, it kept on flying in a jig jag fashion quite high up and never coming close to earth. We watched it for about 10 minutes as it moved steadily in one direction before it disappeared. We still talk about it. We do know it wasn't a light from the ground.
There are over 12,000 planes in the air right now as we speak. So by his statement, there are over 12,000 UFOs as we speak....
Give me a break.
When one is free to speak..then time has come to speak
Wow this is in advance of the X Files coming back on tv????
I believe that the former minister of defence did not release his thoughts on this
subject earlier as he would have lost his position. Now that he is retired he is free
to says what he thinks and believes. There have been enough sightings around the
world since the 1950's that I also believe that UFO's from other planets exist. I have seen
articles that my mother showed me from the Free Press weekly, back in the early 60's which
talked about the UFOs being sighted all around the world. There was a fold out page that
showed all of the sighting places, and they included the USSR, and China, as well as the
rest of the countries. There was sightings all over the southern part of the world at the same time,
Australia, New Zealand, and all over South America as well. During my career I had lots of
people call me to report on UFOs but I have never seen one that I can confirm that it was
a UFO or maybe a planet. I always wished that a saucer would have landed during a
playoff football game and said a brief hello, then took a football for a trophy and left.
I still think that the companies that have developed their technology have had
some help. I do not believe that we have the micro SDHC memory cards that have up to 64GBs of
memory,
and that came strictly from our researchers, and developers.
Space is just too big. Even if an alien civilization knew the exact coordinates to earth, it would take them longer than the law of averages would allow for their own civilization to last to reach us. There's a probably many, many islands of life scattered throughout the Universe but the distances would not allow for any of us to cross paths.
Why didn't he release it when he was minister of defense it always amazes me that someone can criticize someone for not doing something they never did. Maybe they are afraid of public being fearful. I believe it should be release it just bothers me when someone like this criticizes
Silence is GOLDEN and that is just what our Governents are - MUTE ! I wonder who is paying for this fantastic tour of activists and better yet who would waste time to hear their stories. LIfe is for living, so lets get on with cleaning our house for those among us with the greatest needs.
So what els is new? Governments have been hiding the truth about issues since time began.
