Larreta wins but Macri claims victory

By Luciana Bertoia
A cascade of coloured balloons was the prelude to a big victory for Mauricio Macri in his electoral political citadel, contrasting with the secrecy and quiet that marked much of the afternoon in the PRO campaign headquarters. His dauphin and Cabinet Chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta yesterday defeated his contender in the PASO primaries, becoming the PRO candidate to replace Macri in the Buenos Aires City government.
The charisma wasn’t enough. Senator Gabriela Michetti turned out to be the loser of what had turned out to be the most exciting contest of the City primaries.
ECO Buenos Aires mayor hopeful Martín Lousteau, who was beating fellow PASO candidates Graciela Ocaña and Andrés Borthagaray, thanked voters and summoned “those who share our values” to compete together in the July 5th elections.

Sergio Massa’s Renewal Front candidate for Buenos Aires city Mayor PASO elections, Guillermo Nielsen, did not reach the necessary 1.5 percent of votes to participate in the July 5th elections.
Praissing efforts of Mariano Recalde to challenge the PRO party in the City's PASO primaries, Scioli said "people don't want a return to the past," alluding to right-wing opposition forces defending a neoliberal approach of politics.
Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo was among the first Kirchnerite leaders to arrive in the Victory Front (FpV) party bunker waiting for the outcomes of Sunday’s elections.
