Uncorked....well, looks may not be everything, again

I was really struck by how attractive this place looked and that there was nobody there ( no bartender either)

Let me see what consensus is on "Uncorked"--well, overwhelmingly good or excellent but a naysayer or two. Can't endorse it,  but what you do when most people love a place and a few don't like it?

I have been to Uncorked around the time it first opened and really enjoyed myself and have been back just recently and can say all my expectations were met once again and was very pleased.

The specialty cocktails are expertly concocted by a professional and friendly bar staff and tasted delicious. Makes me wish I could be on a purely liquid diet, but I love food too much. Speaking of which, the cheese platter was amazing and everything I tried from the kitchen only wanted me to order more.

Yes it a little out of the way next to the 59th street bridge; yes its not a 'downtown' bar, but frankly that's what I love about it. It has a great atmosphere and its near enough to me so I will definitely be back soon.

Average review for an average place with an inefficient kitchen. We waited almost 25 minutes for our small plates.

Nothing about the food stood out to me, it was either average or below average. We had went here on  living social deal.

The pinot grigio included in the deal was not so good. It mad me tired, gave me a stomach ache, and was very average tasting.

The truffle and mac and cheese was very standard. Nothing great about it.

The italian meatballs were a little on the hard side, the polenta cakes there were served under the meatballs tasted like something that you would get on an air plane.

The prosciutto wrapped asparagus was ok. The prosciutto was over cooked, but the asparagus was cooked right. The melon served with the dish was tasty and ripe.

The raspberry chocolate mousse was ok, it was not bad, but tasted just as good as a mousse I would get in a hospital cafeteria.

I wouldn't come back here unless I was in the area and just wanted to go to a place for a drink (not the pinot grigio). I wouldn't eat here again. The place had a nice atmosphere I could see myself sitting with friends in.

I'm so glad I tried this little spot out. I visited Uncorked on a Tuesday at 5pm. My girlfriend and I were the first customers of the evening. The venue itself itself is narrow and not large, if I had to guess, I'd say it can accommodate 90 people max, but the space is inviting.

We each enjoyed two glasses of Pinot Noir and a cheese plate at the bar and watched the place fill up as it got closer to 7pm. This may be odd to comment on, but I really liked the stools off the bat b/c they provided a little cushion, making them more comfy than the standard wooden bar stool.

I just threw a baby shower for a friend on Aug. 3, 2013 and it was marvelous! Uncorked is intimate and beautifully decorated. Thanh, the owner,  is so easy to work with and beyond accommodating.

The price is VERY reasonable, unfound for midtown Manhattan. My guests raved about the food, the drinks, and the decor. The bartender, the cook, and other staff were so attentive to my party's needs. Not only did they each introduce themselves to me before the event began (so polite), but the host/maitre de took it upon himself to go out and help guests with gifts and bring them in. He also helped me put together the games without asking him.

The good looking bartender, Drew, was polite and made sure my guests and I had everything we needed and wanted...referring to me as "the boss for the night!" Jean Luc set the place as exactly as I wanted and kept the area clean for the duration of the event....the place has good people who bring out good vibes and makes it an even more beautiful place than it already is.

In short....I have nothing negative to say! Just say yes and go see for yourself! You will not be disappointed. Thank you Uncorked for making the planning so seamless and the day special and beautiful!

Try the mac and cheese and the mango mojito/red sangria!!! AMAZING!!!
