Taproom #307

Some people are as fond of Craft Beer as others are of cats. Some are fond of BOTH Craft Beer and cats ( I know one such man).

Well, everything here is pretty much a foregone conclusion...this is a place for Craft Beer and the hell with food etc.

I just wondered what the Craft Beer Conoisseurs would say...well, one or two of the aficianados hoped for something more, but I'd say it's a safe bet this place will please its target audience very well indeed

Fantastic beer selection. Fabulous food. Knowledgable staff. Really cool rewards program for those who are regulars. Great music.

This is my favorite beer bar in new york city. Great place for a date.

The Taproom is a great location with an amazing selection of beers.

Great place to enjoy happy hour with coworkers or grab a quick bite and drink in the evening.

I tried the Crabby patty and it was pretty tasty. The spicy edamame was very delicious as well.

The happy hour selection could be expanded a bit as it was only 4 different beers when we went.

Came here for lunch on a sunday and was pretty surprised how empty it was. The place itself is pretty large. Seating at the bar, around the perimeter of the restaurant and also at communal tables that run down the center of the restaurant. There's also seating outside!

The list of beers here is gigantic! If you want to try a new beer, I highly suggest coming here. I got a raspberry beer and it was sooo good. Very sweet, so I could really only have one glass, but it was good to try. They also have cocktails and a full bar.

We split the fried pickles as an app. If you're a fried pickle fan, I HIGHLY suggest getting these. They were so good. Fried to perfection. I guess anything fried is good, though. I decided to get the arugula salad after that because I thought it'd be light, but it was HUGE.  Also, it was LOADED with wayyy too much cheese and nuts. I understand that those were basically the only ingredients, but calm it down a bit! I also wish it was mixed. The ingredients were basically all lying on top of the arugula. So, note to self: don't get a salad at a bar. The bf got the turkey burger with tater tots and it looked AMAZING. I sort of regretted not getting that, too.

The staff was nice. Nothing out of the norm. Food came out pretty quick, too, but that could have been because there really weren't that many other people there.

I'd come back here for game day or something. I've heard it's fun on sundays for football.

Any place that has not one but TWO Oregon beer on tap can't be anything other than stellar. (Full Sail and Widmer) We stopped by for brunch after thrift store shopping in the area. The breakfast burrito was a great compliment to the hearty IPA, though the tater tots were kind of unnecessary. And there are probably 100 other beers on tap for those misguided people who want something other than IPA. From other reviews it gets really busy here later on but mid-afternoon on Sunday was a perfect time to visit. Looking forward to going back!

Walked by this place and was immediately drawn to the outdoor seating and the word "TAProom". Upon walking in to find the hostess, I noticed the place was jam packed with people (strange, as MY personal optimal spot for beer-drinking would most def be outside). She then informed me that their permit for outdoor drinking hasn't come in yet, hence the large crowd inside. Womp womp womp...

My boyfriend and I were already here so I figured we'd find a spot to chill anyways. The beer list is quite intense (and by QUITE, I really mean MASSIVELY overwhelming), so I opted for my usual IPA category. Depending on the beer, I guess, they come in an array of snazzy glasses. My boyfriend got a summer ale that came in a long curvy elegant glass (quite manly if you ask me).

A few beers later and the munchies hit us. We ordered the 'shroom pizza, which was chock full of arugula, thin parmesan slices, and the wonderful wafting smell of truffle oil. The nachos, which gave the illusion of a massive potential artery clog, was actually in fact a big pile o' chips with a dump of cheese and pulled pork. Once you managed to engulf all the cheese (an easy feat for me), you were then left with a wad of soggy chips.

Other than that, the service was average. Our first waitress was a little hard to catch, but luckily this other little cute waitress kept coming by and was much more attentive. This place definitely needs to serve beer outside, otherwise it'll be just another way-too-many-beers-than-anyone-cares-about bar.
