Natural Frontier Market...an old time health food place by the looks of it

Health Food has been around for a long time, when you think about it, and there have been so many famous vegetarians--like Adolf Hitler for instance LOL

I am just curious to what this neighborhood type place gets for reviews...

Well, on the whole people in Kips Bay love it, with the usual naysayers in the crowd...the ayes really seem to have it for this place, though...a lot of variants on " I'm so happy this place is in the neighborhood"...

I am here every day. Well, almost every day. I buy my produce here. I shop for eggs and yogurt here. I graze at their salad bar. But the jewel that keeps me coming back is their juice bar, which keeps me energized with organic, fresh awesomeness at any reasonable hour (they stop serving juice at 8pm or sometimes slightly earlier, which is slightly annoying but not enough to affect this review).

Unlike other places they are rarely out of vegetables for juicing. They are willing to juice weird vegetables that I buy like dandelion greens (which do not taste good, but I was curious). They also make coconut smoothies from fresh coconuts, which taste amazing and are hard to find anywhere else. I like to blend a pack of raspberries into the smoothie. Mmmmm :-)

The salad bar is good, basic food (I sometimes take things home and add more spices before chowing down). One drawback with the grocery items is that when items go out of stock, they may be out of stock for a while.

Overall, I think this store is a haven for health-conscious people. The staff are knowledgeable (especially the vitamin/herb guy!) and extremely friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food here. I look forward to every one of my frequent visits here.

I really love this place.  yes, it's a bit pricey, but they carry good-looking fruit, my favorite bottled tea, Teas Tea, are in stock and they have a small, refrigerated case with super-tasty, pre-prepared foods which change often, so one day it could be crab cakes and spinach pie and the next day, lentil cakes, etc.  And, they are not exclusively vegetarian, so you will see chicken.  a delicious selection of vegetarian wraps are always on hand too.  I have not yet tried anything from the fresh juice bar, but will soon.  They also have an open salad bar that is kept super clean and with healthy food options that will delight even picky eaters.

Since it's a narrow store, going in there in my wheelchair can wreak havoc, but they have never been anything but courteous and helpful if I need assistance in reaching or looking for something.

It's definitely a mom-and-pop store, even though they have several locations (the main one's in Brooklyn), so I try to support them in the face of everything else disappearing into thin air and being replaced by a crappy 7-11 or another damn Duane Reade!

    You won't be disappointed...

I love that this little gem exists in my neighborhood. I heart Mom and Pop health food stores. I remember going this type of place on both coasts before Whole Foods was everywhere, making it tough for these little guys.

Natural Frontier has excellent hours and I find their prices for produce are cheaper than the grocery stores in the area. Also, they have really good sales on coveted items if you pay attention. In the summer, I grab smoothies before my weekend strolls and maybe a shot of wheat grass. It's the real-fresh-deal. There is no sugar added or frozen mystery fruit here ::ahemjambajuiceahem::. It's nice that they let you have any of the extra that is left in the blender too. No skimping.

As far as prices go (besides produce), I find it's all mostly worth the money for free range, organic, gluten free, vegan or whatever your criteria may be. If the same product is sold anywhere else, it's likely to cost the same.

The place is organized, but a bit difficult to navigate. You either get used to it or ask one of the many people around to help. They are usually very nice.

Tip: Their buffet hot and cold salad bar is pretty good and half off after 8pm.

Great place with friendly staff. I stop here almost everyday after work. The fruit is amazing. it is a small store packed to the rim with goodies, just keep an eye out on expiration dates.

I am vegetarian and had a couple of problems due to the lack of vitamin b12 and B6 with my skin and teeth  .Then I got a shingle cause my immune system was low and Tamvir did the best he could to help me .He really give you the best recommendation and really care on giving you the right treatment with vitamins .

I am really amazed by his skills and honesty .He doesnt push you to buy vitamins , he is trying to get you what you really need .

This is one place that I normally wouldn't review (a grocery store), but I've been meaning to give props...

I love an organic food market.  Yes, they're always a little pricey.  But this one gets my special attention for that green juice they prepare.  WHEEWWW!  Love it.

I can't even tell you how many veggies they stuff into that juicer!  What comes out is pure kale+apple+lemon+++ heaven.  No need for anything else after!

Only $8.00 a pop!  It pays to be healthy.

This organic/all natural market just opened up on the path of my walk home from the busstop and I'm pleased to announce that it's large, has a large inventory of natural food (fresh and packaged goods) and body+hair products... and it's currently having it's opening sale till the end of March. Everything's going for ridiculously cheap - just got myself organic sugar, salsa, chips, whole wheat cookies, and pancake mix for $11.60.

    Sweeeet.

I'm so happy that this is in the neighborhood.  I love that they have a huge selection of healthy snacks and beverages, including my favorite kombucha and coconut water drinks.  Prices are on par with other health food stores in the city, and less than what those rip off bodegas would charge, if they even carried those brands.

Natural Frontier also offers a decent hot/cold food bar with lots of healthful options.  Lots of vegan foods too, if you're into that (I'm not).  And a small produce section.

I gave them 3 stars because the service isn't that friendly and their prices aren't any cheaper than other health food stores, it's just convenient for me.

Natural frontier is my savior in the neighborhood.   Thanks to this place I don't ever have to go into regular delis or a traditional grocery store.  Is natural frontier good for a full shop? No but convenience wise it can't be beat.  I really like the organic prepared food bar which is 50 percent off after 830 pm.  Likewise they make some awesome green pressed juices if you are into that.

So why the three stars? Price and quality.  Like it or love it, Whole Foods is my gold standard.  Unfortunately with the nearest Whole Foods almost a mile away! I often don't have the time to go there.  Prices are probably about 25 percent+++ more expensive than Whole Foods and the quality is simply not as good for stuff that has a limited shelf life.  Produce can be ok, but often it looks god awful and doesnt compare to the presentation at a bigger organic store.

Service also isn't great here but they do move people in and out quickly in what can be pretty tight quarters.

I wouldn't recommend this place for people making it a destination shop but for us locals, the convenience is key.

    Produce- OK
    Supplements- a lot (and pricey)
Huge selections of healthy snacks- YES (and pricey)

If they brought the price down a bit and the friendliness up a notch, I'd love this place.

The prices in this natural organic market is definitely not a deal, but the quality of the food is really good. I strolled into purchase some groceries as well as try one of their delicious smoothies for lunch. I had a apple, kiwi, banana with hemp protein for $7.99 It was really delicious and totally worth the price. The guy who made it behind the counter was patient and let me drink some before pouring the rest into my cup so it would not be wasted. Great!

Best health food store in the neighborhood, for sure. Prices are not bad in the context of health food stores, but higher than the average deli in the area. You get what you pay for to some extent. Well managed and clean.

I'm not sure what the reviewer who said it had been in this location for 10 years was thinking - it hasn't, although a couple of years ago the business moved from 3rd Ave between 21st and 22nd, where it had been for many years. Merch moves fast - no dust or bugs that I've seen!

Really good supplement and herbal tea selection here.  The produce section is pretty small, so I never end up finding the fruit and veggies I need. There is also a salad bar. I have yet to get salad, but it seems popular.

Overall, I enjoy Natural Frontier's wide selection of organic/healthy foods, tea, and other beverages and products. Their prices are generally on par with similar stores and they have decent sales. Their lunch bar can be good once in a while, but as others have said, always contains the same 7 or 8 items with some rotating soups and proteins by the juice bar. I shop here frequently and have gotten helpful information about supplements and products when I've had questions. A good spot to have nearby.

Natural Frontier's fresh, delicious, divinely-colorful food bar has served me well through 4 years of dental school, especially during those countless occasions when it seemed as though there was nothing but generic, inconvenient, unhealthy and/or unsatisfying lunch options in this part of town. How lucky I am to have stumbled upon this place so early on.

This is where I buy my staples of Fage 0%, granola/cereal, and berries.  I'm a fan of their prepared foods as well.  The food bar has a nice selection of healthy items (hot and cold), and they also carry the standard, packaged macro/vegan dumplings and the like.
