Shoe soles for people who still wear shoes like that

Yes, there are still a number of these shoemaker places around here that will re-sole shoes..OK if you buy your shoes from Clark's or someplace like that...

I wear typical one piece space age plastic specially padded shoes that supposedly will absorb all the stress from walking on concrete and last for 1,000 miles ( ha! Not bloody likely, as a young woman I once knew used to say all the time. She wasn't English, by the way, she came from Sparta New Jersey and was the daughter  of a Norwegian sea captain. I wonder where she is now).
