Typical scene on upper East Side, someone out walking a whole bunch of dogs during the day...I once knew a woman who was unemployed who took on a job like this "off the books" ( I believe she was still collecting unemployment insurance)--but then she regretted telling me about it ( did she think I would report her to the authorities?)
Notice man here turned away fast moment he saw my camera. So many people in New York 1) are camera shy b) Think they have privacy rights when out doing things in the most public of spaces 3) Have something to hide 4) Share the supposed Native American belief that a camera will steal your soul if it takes a picture of you 5) All of these..
As a matter of fact, from what I have seen, the big group dogwalking is almost entirely an Upper East Side thing...have seen one person in Kips Bay walking I think three dogs at once, that's about it.
I can't speak for the Upper West Side because I go there so rarely.
