Kudos to FDNY Paramedics Keisha Brockington and Alexis Buttermark, Station 22, who stopped to get coffee today and noticed high CO readings in the store. They evacuated the employees and shoppers, saving many lives.

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro and Chief of Department James E. Leonard welcomed Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, to FDNY Headquarters on April 3. The group discussed a variety of topics, including training for emergency preparedness and complex emergency response. DHS funding supported the FDNY’s response to potential cases of Ebola in New York City by funding protective personal equipment (PPE), as well as advanced training for complex emergencies like pandemics, building collapses, train or subway derailments, and natural disasters.
