falloutboy:
when people ask us what life is on the road or backstage- i always think of how they picture it in their head. that was the intent of the uma video to deliver fly on the wall look into our life backstage and at home only on steroids. not only did we want to show what it was like, we wanted to bring someone into our world so they could experience it too.
fall out boy has always been based on inclusion. if you dont fit in anywhere else you can fit in here.
Ps - we hope you can support the very special message at the end of the video.

When I think of Irresistible it brings this image to my head, whether it’s fictional or real, of Sid and Nancy in an alley garbage raining down on them in an eternal spiral of romance and poison. Sometimes it hard not to love what can hurt us the most. -PW

falloutboy:
When I played my manager a new track we were working on with SebastiAn “American Beauty, American Psycho”, he yelled out “too fast for love!” And whipped out this sweet photo of him in the 80s. He told me this kind of insane story about how if not for Nikki SIXX, we wouldn’t know each other. He claims that he moved to LA to join a punk band and walked into a club called the Starwood, saw Nikki, and it completely changed his life. He saw the very first motley show soon after that and 35 years later saw them last month at madison square garden.

from motley crue i figured it out: putting your heart in it is the most important part, they have always done what is authentic to them.

much of the frenetic energy of ab/ap comes from the motley crue sample-

Too fast for love was motleys tttyg-they made it themselves because no one was interested in signing a punk band wearing too much make up back then. Thirty five years later, they’re still selling out arenas and not playing by anyone’s rules. If there had been the Internet back then, they would’ve broken it.

this photo was meant to capture the threshold between the american beauty and the american psycho… what rages on the inside- how we what we all feel is permanent and impermanent all at once. we can change but do we really want to? activate yourself, protect your dreaminess. or break it- ‘because without the cracks the light couldnt get out.’ “Rock and roll doesn’t necessarily mean a band. the moment where a shadow lets you know where the sun was streaming in. the odd place where light and dark meet. there is a threshold. we all can feel it- it is something palpable… the idea that no matter how much an animal is domesticated- there is still something wild in it. declawed but we take/make the best monsters. we semi-civilize them. we put bears in suits on tricycles. we keep wolves warm from the winter in hen houses. then we wonder why they maul the hearts of what we hold the most dear. but make no mistake you brought them into your house and thought they could become a pet. we have infiltrated you. now we are inside you like a disease. this is a modern love story- coming together and unravelling all at once…. —————————————————- “the cancer of time is eating us away. our heroes have killed themselves, or are killing themselves. the hero then, is not time, but timelessness….” henry miller we thought about where this all began but razing it and starting again. so we reached out to a kindred spirit in sebastiAn- from the past he mined some of the future. the mission is the heart pure and simple as it can be- distilled but never fragmented or disguised. through these experiments, that were sometimes lost in translation, we persevered- “they tried to bury us but they didnt realize we were seeds”… The song “American Beauty/American Psycho” will be released digitally worldwide Dec 8. I knew a man once who said, “Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back.” - the gladiator

getting back up. dusting it off. my dad used to tell me the most important part of any of it was getting back up on the horse- i didnt grow up on a farm- but it still applied. david vs. goliath, us vs them, you vs. the world… brains, talent and luck are great but heart will always trump them. that is the sentiment of this video. thank you for bearing with us while we finished it… the greatest story ever to me will always be the unexpected… when the loser wins, when the clouds clear the day might just turn out alright…

Watch the video for Centuries + look out for the surprise guest appearance from Rick Ross

“An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets. He must run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head.” —Emil Zatopek We never had a plan to jump right back into it after whirlwind year we’ve had…but sometimes the song calls you. We started writing “Centuries” while we were on tour because we felt the calling. Traveling the world for the last year we have seen and been a part of the landscape and fabric of music - from tiny sweaty clubs in Australia to insanely huge festivals in the UK. It felt impossible not to react to it, to be inspired and to want to scream back. Like The Great One said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” We don’t feel any urge to turn the clock back; we crave something new, our place in it all. That some kids from the Middle of Nowhere, USA can make a mark or will scream long enough until the world listens is amazing - but it’s all just to prove to the next kid that she can pick up a guitar and know that it is a weapon. Make no mistake, “Centuries” is, at its most distilled, the story of David & Goliath. It is us passing along the story of how we feel right before we step on stage, trading feeling small and human for all the sweat and grit and sheer power of belief it takes to stare down a giant. Sometimes wrongs are righted. Sometimes if you scream loud enough the world will listen. Sometimes the quintessential loser wins. Sometimes the giant falls.Watch the launch video (shot primarily in the Hyperlapse app), official video coming soon. Download the song on iTunes. S/o to our DCD2 girl LOLO for lending vocals on the song. New album coming soon on DCD2/Island Records! p.s. if the song is not up right away globally, keep checking back.
