Entrepreneurial success with a UNYP MBA

+/- FONT:
Ladislav Čapek got more than he anticipated while earning his MBA at the University of New York in Prague (UNYP).
The founder of one of the Czech Republic’s most promising start-ups, the intuitive digital mapping platform Geosense, met his business partner during his studies, and turned his MBA thesis into his company’s business plan. He started his studies with an idea, and left with a company.
Čapek’s story is common place at UNYP. The Alumni of the prestigious University contain many executive level positions and dynamic companies. In fact a 2014 study by the Czech Office of Labor identified graduates from UNYP among the most successful at finding work, with less than 1% registering at a labor office after graduation, compared to the national average of 8%.
This success rate is due to the strength of the University's faculty, academics who have been chosen for their wealth of industry experience, hailing from companies such as 3M, Volkswagen and British Telecom. One example is financial accounting Professor Charles Varley, the former president of Coca Cola Bottling in France, a favorite teacher of Čapek’s.
In addition, UNYP flies in academics from Harvard and LaSalle University as guest lecturers for the MBA program.
The statistics don’t lie. Most UNYP MBA graduates have received a promotion in less than 8 months after completing their degree and less than 3 years after graduating. Salaries for graduates are on average 46% higher than their non-MBA counterparts.
Another reason for the University’s success is the access it provides its students to the MBA alumni network, the largest in the Czech Republic. Students leverage the opportunity to build professional relationships with other graduates, receiving mentoring and advice.
Čapek continues to attend the alumni meetings, and has even sourced his Human Resources Manager and other staff from the group. With over 1400 clients, and a Silicon Valley award, things are going well for Geosense and Čapek, studying his MBA at UNYP was obviously the right choice.
