Around 1,000 people attended Woodford Fire Station’s annual community safety day last weekend and raised a whopping £500 which will be shared between The Firefighter’s Charity and Guide Dogs UK.
The event, which was kindly sponsored by Sainsbury, included an aerial appliance display, a raffle, funfair rides and stalls. Did you attend? See if you can spot yourself in our pictures?
The next open days taking place are at East Greenwich Fire Station on August 1 and Sutton Fire Station on August 16. More details about each day will be shared with you soon.

There are exciting times ahead for our museum. A recent decision to make a new venue part of any redevelopment of our old Albert Embankment headquarters means its future has been secured for generations to come. The current museum will remain open until September but there'll still be a chance to view our historic collection as we'll be putting on temporary exhibitions, visits and talks until its new home becomes available. Did you know if you live in rented accommodation your landlord will soon be required by law to install smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in your home? If they don't they'll be hit with a £5,000 fine. To make you safer we're giving a limited number of alarms away free to private landlords so get yours to apply now. They can find out more information here: http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/freesmokealarms.asp

Our thoughts today are with the families and friends of firefighters Bill Faust and Adam Meere who sadly lost their lives 11 years ago today while tackling a fire in Bethnal Green Road, Whitechapel.
Bill and Adam were much loved and respected. They are greatly missed but never forgotten.
