Lead and direct your members to succeed, not to avoid losing. Both on the fire ground and in the fire house. There's a big difference!

It's very hard for a person to be a leader of others and to be expected to be responsible for others when that person has no control of their words and actions and accepts no responsibility for either.

Remember, fair doesn't mean the same. There is no way to treat everybody and every situation the same and trying to do so will result in failure.
Situations and people are different and you need to take that into consideration when dealing with both. You can still be fair without treating everybody and situations the same.
Know and learn the difference in order to be effective.
