Sławomir and Marcin Szymała were sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court over three charges of having drugs for sale or supply at two separate locations.
Detective Garda Darragh O’Toole revealed to the court that the brothers had been caught thanks to a surveillance operation.
The lion's share of the cannabis was found at a farmhouse near Castletown in County Meath. The building had been rented from the owner by someone passing under an alias.
The brothers also used a van which had a secret compartment, apparently for transporting drugs.
Sławomir Szymała (37) has a daughter with a former partner, and both live in Poland. Younger brother Marcin (29) had started out as a chef in a Dublin hotel ten years ago, before setting up an events company which apparently went into debt. (nh)
