In only a few months, a 3rd NYPD officer has died in the line of duty. This morning, PO Brian Moore has passed from being shot in the face on Saturday evening. We continue to stand behind the NYPD and all law enforcement agencies throughout our country. This is completely unacceptable. There is much more I would love to say but I will leave it at that. We support the ‪#‎NYPD‬. Rest in peace PO Moore. ‪#‎FDNYPD‬‪#‎EndThisNonsense‬

  • Mike Uliano What a shame. I see these guys out on the sound all of the time. They need to stick to the inlets and the rivers to be safe. Hopefully they find the kayaker soon.
  • Andre Christopher Rivera I been out in the sound, what does that mean @mike
From the 18th century until today, these men played pivotal roles in shaping the New York Fire Department.

This morning, the FDNY small boat program resumes. Marine 3 stationed at Flatbush Marina, Marine 4 stationed at Ft. Totten & Marine 8 stationed Great Kills Park in Staten Island. The boats are ready for the summer swell of beach goers and boats, monitoring USCG Channel 16, NYPD and their FDNY channels.

  • Sam Thomas It sounds like a seasonal position; are the firefighters that work on the small boats for the season from the regular fire stations or marine units? If yes, do their positions get back filled with OT?
    • NYC Fire Wire Still assigned to their firehouse, just detailed for the summer. They have to apply and are interviewed by the Marine Division. Boating experience is required, UCSC or other maritime military experience is prefered
  • Dave Cline Now that is a job I would absolutely love doing
    • NYC Fire Wire You and a bunch of other people. I want to put in for the detail this year but I didn't get my boating captain license in time. Either way, I hear theirs a waiting list. These boats get a lot of work, I personally think they should be a year round regular fire boat.
