I orginally made this little video in Dec. 2013 because someone had again quoted the line from "Catcher in the Rye" about Central Park and "Where do the ducks go in winter?"
I decided to investigate
This was my first foray
Most of the mallards stayed in the South Pond all through the winter being fed daily by people in the Park, -- it looked to me that for some of these people feeding the ducks was a daily ritual
As the water iced over the ducks just hunched closer together

P.S. I just read on a nature web site that it is not good to feed
bread to the ducks, it is their "junk food" and they get addicted to it
The site said to feed the ducks "food rich in fiber, like peas"
so I tried this this Spring and the ducks turned their bills up at my peas, they wanted their daily fix of bread, bread, bread, the darling little junkies
