One network's trash is a Late Show superfan's treasure.
Following David Letterman's last show on Wednesday night, CBS wasted absolutely no time in dismantling the host's set and tossing it out to the curb.
Cue devoted fans rushing to the scene to dumpster dive for some iconic talk show memorabilia.
While some items got special treatment — Letterman's desk was shipped off to the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and a replica of the George Washington Bridge was taken away in a van — others got the boot. Chairs, tiles and small pieces from the backdrop were tossed into the trash, up for grabs to the fastest collectors.
It's kind of like that episode of Seinfeld when Kramer redecorated his apartment with the Merv Griffin set.
If you didn't have a chance to get over to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, though, don't fret. We're sure you'll find some items on eBay.
