When bonfires go massively wrong! A bonfire was left unattended and quickly got out of control causing two homes to have severe damage in Selhurst. If you're planning on burning wood in your garden make sure you keep an eye on it and place it far away from property http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_18ma…

The wife of the man who'd started the bonfire point him out to the Crew and said in a loud voice....."He used to be a Fireman". There were a lot of smiling Firemen and one red-faced ex-Fireman in that garden.
The Brigade’s first fireboat, the Massey Shaw sets off from West India Docks tomorrow on her way to join a flotilla of Little Ships for the 75th anniversary commemorations of Dunkirk. She’ll spend a few days in the port of Ramsgate and Fire Cadets will form a guard of honour when visitors are allowed on board. A group of enthusiasts restored the Massey Shaw to her former glory, but she was not designed for use in the open sea, so the crew of volunteers are hoping for a flat calm when she crosses the Channel on Thursday.

We’re backing Strictly star Claudia Winkleman’s call for people to take extra care with candles, especially if they are being used around children.
The presenter’s daughter suffered serious burns when her Halloween costume caught fire last year. The eight-year-old was dressed in a witch’s costume when it brushed against a candle and was set alight.
In 2014, there were 82 fire related injuries in London between Halloween and Bonfire Night – a 37 percent increase on the number ...

A woman 'cheated death' after a 4 tonne advert crashed to the ground in Tooting. Sadly a pigeon didn't escape. Firefighters say if it had happened an hour later it could have been a disaster http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_12Ma…
Last weekend 24 firefighters and officers attended the VE70 service at Westminster Abbey before helping veterans in the parade from Westminster Abbey along Whitehall to horse guards parade where they marched past HRH Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prime Minster David Cameron, as the Red Arrows roared overhead.
The firefighters assisted the British Legion in looking after the WW2 veterans during the day, before attending a special event at St James’ Park to mark the occasion.
Station Manager Kevin McKenzie who was one of the LFB coordinators said: “VE70 was a day to be proud of and a very humbling experience.”
